The Sunday Post: The Future Favors the Brave
Hello again, friends, and welcome back to another edition of The Sunday Post! Thanks to everyone for the kind words about the new look we debuted last week. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have additional thoughts or ideas about what you would like to see in this space on a regular basis going forward. And please share this with friends and family who are fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The team at Friends From Work would like to continue to grow our community, and sharing this free newsletter and the podcast are the best ways you can help with that.
Now that the holidays are behind us, the podcast will return to regularly scheduled weekly episodes, with a new episode every Monday. Previously exclusive Daredevil podcasts covering the Netflix series will continue making their way to the main feed as well.

It was another week with little in the way of MCU news, so before we make a brief stop at The Watercooler, I thought we could preview next month’s new MCU film.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD PREVIEW

Starring: Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson with Giancarlo Esposito, with Tim Blake Nelson and Harrison Ford

Production Notes: The movie filmed from March 2023 until the end of June 2023, in Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC. In 2024, Matthew Orton was hired to write new scenes to be filmed during reshoots between May and August of 2024.

THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man premieres in just 12 days. Series creator Jeff Trammell spoke to Tara Bennett for Paste Magazine in an article published last week. Trammell talked about the decision to set the show in an alternate universe and how they settled on the animation style for the show. Read the full interview here.
Trammell also talked to Animation Magazine last week. To find out how he originally got the job on the show, the visual inspirations for the show, and his favorite prior animated incarnation of the web crawler, click here.
The Walt Disney Company issued a press release previewing all of the animated projects coming from Marvel Studios this year.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man: Trammell previewed the villains that will be seen on the show saying, “You’re going to see some familiar faces — and if you’re a fan of Chameleon, you’re going to see a few of his faces. You’re also going to see Scorpion, as well as a few characters who may seem new, like Speed Demon or Butane. We have a huge rogues gallery to play with, and so we’re looking forward to putting some of them in the forefront.”
Eyes of Wakanda: Showrunner Todd Harris teased what can be expected of this 4-part series. ”This has been a long time coming. The story has been stewing for a long time in my head. I’m a big believer in what Wakanda represents to mankind as a place that’s untethered by expansion. It has drawn a line — a line it won’t cross and it won’t let anybody else cross.
Animation is the ultimate equalizer of locations. Egypt costs just as much as New York City, and the moon costs just as much as Ohio. Filming around the globe has inherent limitations that we just don’t have in animation. That freedom allowed us to reimagine an idealized version of an era that’s unaffected by human history.”
Marvel Zombies: The press release confirmed the voice cast of the show, including Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani. Showrunner Bryan Andrews said, “It’s TV-MA, so we don’t have to pull punches. We can be a little bit more hardcore. We go for the throat — no pun intended. It’s pretty, pretty wild out there. An old favorite also shows up: Zombie Cap makes an appearance. He has quite a scuffle with another main character, and I think fans will love it.”
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
Friday is a big day for AppleTV+. The season finale of Silo airs and the long-awaited premiere of the second season of Severance releases also. FFW+ subscribers can expect to see both series covered on Screensaver, starting with a Severance season 1 recap from Kyle and Robby.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
While verifiable news has been hard to come by over the last few weeks, the rumor mill seems to have moved into overdrive. Every day brings new casting rumors. I won’t go over them all here, but the one I wanted to spotlight was a report that Marvel Studios is looking to recast T’Challa. It is unclear whether this would be recasting T’Challa II, who was introduced at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever or if the studio is looking to cast a variant, contemporary version of the Wakandan warrior. What do you think? Share your thoughts on Discord.
That’s a wrap for this week. Could tomorrow be the day that the full trailer for Daredevil: Born Again is released by Marvel Television? The show is just over 50 days away. If it does, we will be breaking it down on Discord right away. Have a great week!
