The Sunday Post
Let's begin at the end
Hey there, friends! Welcome to another edition of The Sunday Post, the *86th* consecutive Sunday we’ve published this newsletter. It’s hard to believe we will hit triple digits early next year.
It was yet another quiet week for Marvel Studios as the holidays creep closer. The calm before the storm, perhaps? At Friends From Work, Robby and Kyle returned with their annual Thanksgiving episode last week, talking about the things in the MCU they are thankful for this year.
FFW+ subscribers are in for a treat this week- a much-requested bonus episode has been recorded, and Kyle is already working hard on editing it for release. I think Patreon/Substack subscribers are going to love it. If you’ve been on the fence about trying out a subscription but are considering treating yourself for Christmas, click right here.
Now over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
I was worried there would be no news this week, but thankfully, earlier today, Marvel dropped a second trailer for the final season of What If…? The first episode is only two weeks away, and a new episode will be released every day after that.
This news cycle was so barren that the Microsoft Copilot advertisement above featuring characters from Captain America: Brave New World was nearly the lead item. The ad is arguably the best look we’ve had at Joaquin Torres’ Falcon (Danny Ramirez).
Awards Season is about to kick into high gear, and Marvel Studios received multiple Critics Choice Award nominations last week. X-Men ‘97 was nominated for Best Animated Series, and Patti Lupone was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in Agatha All Along. Nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced tomorrow morning.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
As I mentioned last week, CCXP has been taking place in São Paulo, Brazil, over the last few days, and while Disney+ didn’t end up having much of a presence after all, there were still several exciting trailers released at the event. In addition to the Severance trailer above, there were new looks at Yellowjackets, the third season of Invincible, and Ballerina.
There is no “rumor of the week” today because nothing floating around the internet over the last seven days feels legitimate enough to warrant inclusion. My pledge to you is that I will never post rumors just for clicks—if they appear here, I think they are from a reputable source and have a legitimate chance of happening.
So, that’s a wrap until next week. Have a great week, everyone!
