The Sunday Post
Tis the season
Friends, welcome to December! The final season of What If…? begins in three short weeks. In fact, as someone astutely pointed out to me earlier today, we are now entering a stretch where there will be *some* new MCU content in our lives every month until at least 2026, barring any unexpected changes.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with friends and family. I know that everyone in the Friends From Work family did. Last week was quiet around both the MCU and FFW but Kyle and Robby are refreshed and ready to jump back behind their microphones soon. Expect a new podcast episode later this week.
Meanwhile, our Discord server has been as busy as ever, including our Spider-Man: The Animated Series rewatch in our [saturday morning cartoons] channel. Please consider joining in the conversation there if you haven’t already.
FFW+ subscribers will continue to notice changes as the tier structure is streamlined this month. 2025 is shaping up to be FFW’s biggest year yet and we want everyone to be a part of it. If you have any questions during the transition process, feel free to reach out to me directly.
As I mentioned already, it was a quiet week for Marvel Studios, but I scrounged up a few morsels of information over at…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
The Fantastic Four: First Steps wrapped principal photography last week, and Pedro Pascal posted a photo from the wrap party to celebrate the occasion. Notably, Pascal obscured the face of the person sitting next to him in the picture. Combined with some rogue set footage in Spain that showed someone being ushered to the set under a blanket, speculation about the identity of the mysterious (presumed) cast member has ramped up.
Spider-Man returned to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in a decade, and included the first official promo footage from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The series debuts on January 29th, 2025.
The Hawkeye and Loki Season 2 4K steelbook collector’s editions are set to be released this Tuesday. New deleted scenes have from the physical media releases have started to make their way online.
The 2024 Comic Con Experience (CCXP) is headed to São Paulo, Brazil later this week. The annual event will run from Thursday, December 5th through Sunday, December 8th. Despite Disney having their own D23 event in Brazil just last month, rumor has it that Disney+ specifically will have a prescence there. Is this when we finally get the hi-def Daredevil: Born Again trailer that fans have been waiting for?
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
While on the topic of CCXP, two studios that are expected to have major panels in Brazil are Sony and DC Studios. Could Sony reveal new information about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse? Both of the previous “Spider-Verse” animated movies made announcements at past CCXP events. For DC Studios, all eyes are on James Gunn. Creature Commandos premieres during the event, but 2025’s Superman is the title everyone will be watching for- will the first trailer be released?
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
There is speculation that an untitled Marvel Studios feature film is scheduled to begin filming in the UK during the fall of 2025.
FFW sources are hearing that the Disney+ Nova project has hired a showrunner and is prepared to start writing episodes in the spring. We are hearing that it will be the MCU’s first procedural (think Law & Order), but set in space.
And that’s all the news that is fit to print. Don’t forget- Kyle and Robby will be back with a new podcast episode this week, so keep those feeds refreshed. Until then, come chat with us on Discord and I’ll see you back here again next week.
