The Sunday Post: All Eyes on Doom
Hi friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post! We did it, we made it to Avengers: Doomsday week (at least we think). All signs point towards the first teaser dropping in a few days (maybe Thursday), even though the studio did not offer any hints tonight, despite rumors swirling online.
Last week, Kyle and Robby started their own preparations for 2026 by ranking the eight confirmed projects by anticipation. If you missed it, check it out here. To absolutely no one’s surprise, Doomsday topped both of their lists. The guys will be on standby this week, just like the rest of us, ready to hop on mics and record an emergency podcast as soon as the Doomsday trailer is out in the world.
Until then, check out the rest of the news from a busy week around Hollywood over at…

THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
To set the stage for Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios announced that Avengers: Endgame will return to movie theaters on September 25th, 2026. There are credible rumors that Doomsday will act as a direct sequel to Endgame.
Marvel’s other big 2026 release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, wrapped filming this week. It was first reported by Alex Perez of My Cosmic Circus, and subsequently confirmed by crew member social media posts.
Disney+ hosted a panel at the CCXP 2025 comics convention in Brazil, showcasing new footage from Wonder Man and season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. Unfortunately, none of that footage was released publicly, possibly because Marvel wants to keep fans’ focus on Avengers: Doomsday this week.
Forbes broke down the production costs of another of Marvel’s UK productions, this time The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The critically acclaimed movie is on track to be one of Disney’s cheapest Marvel movies, despite looking, well, fantastic.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
In news that sent shockwaves reverberating throughout Hollywood, Netflix announced it had agreed to purchase the film and streaming businesses of Warner Bros. Discovery for a staggering $82.7 billion. This includes HBO, HBO Max, and yes- James Gunn’s DCU. What this means for the future of the film industry (particularly theatrical releases) will take months, if not years, to figure out. Netflix will now enter into exclusive negotiations to try to finalize the deal. That is no sure thing, as the merger will require federal regulatory approval, a wild card given the current administration. For more details, check out Lucas Shaw’s excellent reporting for Bloomberg here.
Prime Video debuted an epic first teaser trailer for the final season of The Boys at CCXP. The final season premieres on April 8th, 2026.

Also at CCXP, Prime Video revealed the first poster for their 2026 series, Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage. The series will be available in both black-and-white and color versions.
Not to be outdone by Marvel Studios and Doomsday rumors, James Gunn and DC Studios announced earlier today that the first teaser trailer for Supergirl is also expected this week!
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
Is one Avengers: Doomsday trailer enough? Some rumors are circulating that Marvel has prepared three separate, interconnected teasers that will all debut over the rest of December. Could we be so lucky?
That’s it for tonight. Make sure to follow Friends From Work on all social media platforms. Come over to our Discord server, too, and join in the MCU discussion and Doomsday speculation. Have a great week!
