The Sunday Post: Back to the Grind
Hello again, friends! After New York Comic Con last weekend, it was a much quieter week around the Marvel Cinematic Universe, unless you are a regular over on the Friends From Work Discord server, which is always active and a great place to discuss anything from the MCU, the DCU, or just about any other topic.
One of our regular listeners and most active Discord users, Neil Scharnick, released a special FFW+ bonus episode last week as part of a new series called “Kyle, Listen.” In about 20 minutes, Neil breaks down why Kyle (and everyone else) should watch a Marvel project outside the MCU. His first episode covers the Freeform series Cloak & Dagger that ran for two seasons in 2018 and 2019. Try FFW+ free for 7 days through Patreon and check it out!
This week, Kyle and Robby are back to discuss everything they are hoping to see in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. Plus subscribers will have early access to the episode tomorrow before it hits the main feed on Thursday.
Time to head over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
At NYCC, it was announced that the second season of Daredevil: Born Again would premiere next March. A press kit put out after the convention may have revealed a more specific start date: March 4th, which would be one year to the day after the premiere of the first season.
One of the only Marvel projects that was not discussed at NYCC was the upcoming Punisher Special Presentation. But Marvel’s head of Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, did discuss the one-off in a special live edition of the Phase Hero podcast the day after the convention. Host Brandon Davis was also joined by Daredevil: Born Again’s Krysten Ritter and VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas.
Channing Tatum’s new movie, Roofman, is out in theaters now, and Tatum has been doing a lot of press to promote the film. Inevitably, he gets asked about Avengers: Doomsday, and Tatum can barely contain his excitement. He told People magazine what it was like working with Joe and Anthony Russo.
“Every single movie that they make is the next one has to top it. When I read the script, I was just like, ‘What?!’ I don't think anybody's really going to understand how they did this. It's going to melt everybody's brain all over again.”
Elle magazine profiled Frankenstein star Mia Goth last week, and Goth offered one small tidbit on the long-gestating Blade movie in the works at Marvel- Goth confirmed that she is still attached to the movie, and is not concerned about the delays. “It’s for the best that it’s taken the time that it has. They want to do it right,” she tells Elle.
When The Marvels was released in 2023, a media-driven narrative was created that suggested director Nia DaCosta clashed with Marvel Studios during post-production and left the project on bad terms. But DaCosta sets the record straight in a new profile from The Guardian about her latest project, Hedda, starring Tessa Thompson.
“There’s no ire in any of my energy. I was on the Avengers set a couple weeks ago because I still have relationships with these people. [Kevin Feige] wrote me a letter for my UK visa.”
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE

The final season of Stranger Things is suddenly right around the corner. The first four episodes premiere on Netflix in just over a month, the day before Thanksgiving. Time magazine was fortunate to spend some time on the set of season 5 with the cast and crew last year for this week’s cover story. Check it out for tons of behind-the-scenes insight.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
Stop me if you have heard this before, but rumors have started up again that Blade may finally be inching closer to ramping up production again, and they may even be eyeing an early 2027 release date if all the stars align. Keep your fingers crossed.
That will do it for today. I hope everyone has a great week, and I’ll see you back here next Sunday!
