The Sunday Post: City Without Fear
Hello, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post. It may be hard to believe, but there is only ONE episode of Daredevil: Born Again left. The epic finale (and it is epic) will be released at 9 pm ET on Tuesday night. I’ve been saying this for over a month now, but you do not want to be late for this one. The finale caps off one of the best seasons of Marvel Television, ever.
Friends From Work will be there for all the fallout, analyzing the final episode and looking to the future for what fans can expect from season 3. Then, next week, Kyle and Robby will be back with insights on The Punisher: One Last Kill. Will the special feel like a bonus episode of Born Again? Or an appetizer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day? Or its own distinct project? We’ll find out in less than ten days.
Speaking of Brand New Day, let’s head over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

As part of their Summer Movie Preview series, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first three pages (the first is above) of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day script, complete with annotated notes from director Destin Daniel Cretton, star Tom Holland, and more. Read about the six things EW gleaned from these script pages here.
Tom Holland also talked to The Hollywood Reporter about the massive press tour he is about to embark on for the movie.
“The press tour that we are about to go on is humongous. I’m not going to lie and say that I’m not daunted by the travel and the number of events we are going to. But one of the things that I love, especially for Spider-Man, is that the movie is all about community. All of these stops that we’re doing, we are working in cultural events, community events and there will be charitable components. When you can promote a movie but also shed some light on amazing causes, that’s what really makes a difference.”
It was revealed at a recent IMAX event that unlike Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars will be screened in IMAX when it releases in December 2027.
Business Insider sat down with director Kenneth Branagh to reflect on the legacy of 2011’s Thor, fifteen years later. Branagh also gave his thoughts on what he would do with a potential Thor 5 after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Part of me would love to finish my relationship with that character. I'd always wanted to do more and indeed had a couple of ideas, more in the territory of James Mangold's brilliant "Logan." I would love to see Chris Hemsworth and the others have their own individual final story that takes Thor into a glorious twilight.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE

There were several updates from DC Studios last week. The studio announced that the third season of My Adventures With Superman will begin on June 13th, Lanterns will be released on August 16th, and the cover page of the first script of the 2nd season of Creature Commandos was revealed. Written by Dean Lorey (Harley Quinn), it marks the first time an episode is being penned by someone other than James Gunn. For more on these developments, be sure to check out The Sons of Gunn podcast, part of the Friends From Work Podcast Network.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
I am usually pretty reticent to talk too much about reported test screenings for upcoming movies, because the people sharing those thoughts publicly often have an agenda they are trying to push (whether good or bad). But with that caveat out of the way, there have been multiple reports recently about Spider-Man: Brand New Day test screenings, and every one has been glowing. Could Marvel Studios have another hit on their hands?
PANEL BOUND COMICS PICK OF THE WEEK

BATMAN BY CHIP ZDARSKY OMNIBUS VOL. 1
Robby is not here tonight, but I wanted to offer a blind recommendation of my own. Friend of the podcast Chip Zdarsky is killing it right now writing “Captain America” for Marvel, and is lined up to write this summer’s massive event series “Avengers Armageddon”.
But before all of that, Zdarsky spent nearly three years writing the mainline “Batman” book for DC Comics. From July 2022 until February 2025, Zdarsky and superstar artist Jorge Jimenez were responsible for the Dark Knight. This new volume 1 omnibus, released just last week, collects the first half of that work.
What’s not to like? So head over to our friends at Panel Bound Comics, use code “FRIENDSFROMWORK” for a discount, and add this new collection to your shelves.
That’s all I have for you tonight. I hope I see everyone Tuesday night on Discord for the live watch of the Daredevil: Born Again finale. It should be a blast.
Have a great week,
-Greg
