The Sunday Post: Devil May Care

Hello, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post. There have been many quiet news weeks around the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Marvel Studios scaled back their ambitious production schedules in late 2023, but the past seven days may have been the slowest that I can remember. The long wait for a Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer continues (more on that in the rumor of the week) and the Avengers: Doomsday well has run dry since those four “teasers” in December and early January.

Here at Friends From Work, Daredevil month is starting to pick up steam. Contributor Neil Scharnick released a new FFW+ episode on Friday focused on Marvel novels, including an interview with acclaimed author Alex Segura about his new book Enemy of my Enemy: A Daredevil Marvel Crime Novel. Main feed listeners should be on the lookout for a new “Saga So Far” episode on Tuesday to prime you for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again and a new “Screen Recap” on YouTube. The season premiere is only sixteen days away!

Now, for a brief news rundown, let’s head over to…

THE WATERCOOLER

THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

  • I wouldn’t quite call it a trailer, but Marvel did provide a fresh look and new footage from Daredevil: Born Again’s second season last week. The new 30-second spot released on Friday showcased more action and revealed the return of two fan-favorite supporting characters from season 1.

  • Did you miss out on Wonder Man? Not sure it is worth your time and a subscription to Disney+? Well, Marvel has the entire first episode available now for free on their YouTube channel. So no more excuses- if you haven’t checked it out yet, give it a chance.

BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE

  • The newest series from James Gunn’s DC Studios finally has a trailer for fans to pore over. Lanterns, from the minds of Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof (LOST), and Tom King (writer of the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic), is now expected to be released in August. For a full trailer breakdown, check out the latest podcast from The Sons of Gunn, members of the Friends From Work Podcast Network.

  • The final trailer for the final season of The Boys was released last week. The first two episodes of the Amazon Prime Video hit premiere on April 8th.

TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK

  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day is only 146 days away. So when should fans expect an official trailer to be released? Currently there are two primary lines of thinking. Both are plausible. The first possibility is that the trailer will be released in time to be attached to Project Hail Mary, which comes out on March 20th and figures to be the first big blockbuster movie of 2026. Amy Pascal also happens to be a producer on both films, and Sony controls the international distribution rights for PHM. If not then, then the smart money would be April 13th at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas. The annual convention to celebrate and promote the theater industry kicks off with (you guessed it) Sony Pictures and holding the BND trailer until then would guarantee the convention starts with a bang.

That’s going to do it for this week. As we close in on three years of TSP (next month!) I just want to say thank you to everyone who checks out the newsletter every week (or any week)- I truly appreciate it. It’s been a slow couple of months for the MCU, but I have a feeling that is going to change real soon.

Have a great week and see y’all back here again in seven days.
