The Sunday Post: Doomsday is Coming
Happy Holidays, friends! Welcome back to The Sunday Post. Friends From Work will remain on hiatus over the coming week, but TSP will always be here to catch you up on what is happening around the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Kyle and Robby are off, the latest episode of Kyle, Listen! with Neil Scharnick will be available on FFW+ this week.
For the rest of today’s newsletter, I am sticking with a theme. See if you can figure it out as we swing over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
It is finally here, officially. Chris Evans is back. Steve Rogers is back. Avengers: Doomsday is increasingly looking like a true sequel to Avengers: Endgame, and that is incredibly exciting, in my humble opinion.
The second teaser is playing in theaters now, and if the pattern holds, it will be released publicly early this week. Today, the third teaser leaked online. I will refrain from discussing those here for now, but curious fans can find them online if they know where to look.
One of the most underrated and under-reported aspects of Avengers: Doomsday is the triumphant return of Alan Silvestri to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Silvestri has scored every Avengers movie except for Age of Ultron, and he is one of the few composers who can elevate a project just through his composition. He shared a glimpse of his Doomsday theme in a special Christmas post on his Instagram page.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
None of the four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers that are currently rolling out in front of Avatar: Fire & Ash is expected to be a full, traditional teaser trailer. In fact, none of them are likely to include footage of Doctor Doom at all. According to the latest rumor, Marvel Studios is holding that back for the biggest stage of all, Super Bowl Sunday. The Big Game is on February 8th next year.
PANEL BOUND COMICS PICK OF THE WEEK

DOCTOR DOOM
I am doing something a little bit different this week: a blind recommendation. I’ve never read this 12-issue collection by Christopher Cantwell with art by Salvador Larroca, but I do recognize that name, Christopher Cantwell. Not only has he written several books for Marvel, but he is also the co-creator of one of the best television shows you have probably never seen, Halt and Catch Fire. If his comic writing is anything like his television work, this book will be worth your time.
So if you are looking to add some more Doctor Doom into your life, check out this collection at PBC. And remember to use code “FRIENDSFROMWORK” for an additional discount off your purchase.
That’s a wrap for today. Thanks for reading. I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year, and I will see everyone back here next Sunday.
