The Sunday Post: Hey Frank
Hello Frank, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post. Tonight I have updates on The Punisher: One Last Kill, Daredevil: Born Again, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, X-Men, and this week’s CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas.
But first, a quick update on the podcast. For FFW+, there will be a new episode of Kyle, Listen! tomorrow, covering Agent Carter. With James D’Arcy reprising his role as Edwin Jarvis later this year for VisionQuest, it is the perfect time to hear out Neil’s pitch for why Agent Carter should be the next show you binge on Disney+.
On Tuesday, the fifth episode of Daredevil: Born Again will be released and it is my personal favorite from the second season. Kyle and Robby will have all their reactions ready for listeners on Wednesday.
Last, but not least, Kyle and Robby will be welcoming back The Newton Brothers to the podcast this week for the second time to discuss the music of Daredevil: Born Again. So be on the lookout for that, too.
Now over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
The first trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill was released and it looks like a movie-quality special presentation. Co-written by Jon Bernthal and directed by Reinaldo Marcus-Green, the special releases on May 12th, one week after the finale of Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again’s fourth episode certainly lived up to the hype. It currently has a 9.5 rating on IMDB, making it one of Marvel Television’s best-rated episodes ever. Wilson Bethel is as good as he’s ever been as Bullseye. Don’t miss the fallout of that shocking ending at 9pm ET on Tuesday.
Tom Holland revealed in a GQ interview last week that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going through reshoots to put the “icing on the cake” of the July 31st release.
“I can positively say that the stuff we’re doing, we don’t need. The movie works and sings as it is. We’re just adding the icing on the cake in certain areas. We’re finding some ways to add a little bit more humor. We’re layering in a villain plotline in a new way and some really fun stuff.”
Jake Schreier spoke to Collider at the Beef season 2 premiere and was asked about his upcoming X-Men movie for Marvel Studios. Schreier said that Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo (both of whom were credited writers on Thunderbolts*) have been tasked with punching up the current script. It is good to know that the trio who delivered one of Marvel’s best films in years will be reuniting to usher the X-Men into the MCU.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
CinemaCon 2026 kicks off in a big way tomorrow at 6:30pm with Sony Pictures Entertainment previewing their upcoming theatrical slate. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to be featured and Phil Lord has teased a possible update for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, too.
Warner Bros. Pictures (Tuesday), Universal Pictures (Wednesday), Amazon MGM Studios (Wednesday) and Paramount Pictures (Thursday) will follow over the coming days. Warner Bros. is expected to showcase Supergirl, and there is a rumor that Universal may officially announce the 8th film in the Jurassic franchise at the event.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
The final presenting studio at CinemaCon is, of course, Walt Disney Studios. Avengers: Doomsday is heavily speculated to be featured prominently during their presentation. Will everything be restricted to the guests in the room, or could Marvel Studios use the opportunity to release a new teaser to the public? And will we learn, once and for all, the fate of the movie’s release date? Find out on April 16th.
That is all I have for you tonight. It looks like it is going to be a jam-packed week, between Daredevil: Born Again and CinemaCon.
