Hello, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post, where I just returned from watching my daughter bring home a Maryland State Softball Championship! What a day. Tonight, some news about the upcoming Avengers: Endgame re-release, over at DC there were multiple Batman-related updates, plus it is X-Men ‘97 week!
But first, some Friends From Work updates. It may not be July until Wednesday, but the podcast is kicking into high gear now. Tomorrow, Kyle and Robby will have a 90-minute episode talking about Robby’s amazing vacation, Supergirl, and Spider-Man. Speaking of Supergirl, don’t let the negative discourse dissuade you from seeing this movie. I had a fun time, and you can read my full review here. And for yet another opinion, make sure to check out Jaylen and Matt over at The Sons of Gunn podcast, part of the Friends From Work Podcast Network.
Also tomorrow, look for my full review of Silo’s third season, which debuts on Friday. Kyle will also have a Screensaver preview pod on FFW+ later this week.
And don’t forget to pre-order your brand-new t-shirt to celebrate the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Plus, submit your questions for a special upcoming BND mailbag episode of the pod.
Consider this the kickoff to what is going to be a very busy July here at Friends From Work. Now over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
Marvel Studios’ Legends made a surprise return this week, with a special Apocalypse primer episode to get you ready for X-Men ‘97 on Wednesday. The bonus episode tracks Apocalypse from the original series up through the first season of X97.
Marvel also released a new teaser for season 2, featuring the X-Men’s greatest (?) villain. Check it out above.

Sensing a theme here? Yes, we are excited about X-Men ‘97! Robby, Kyle, and I have seen the first four episodes and we think you are going to love them. The first three episodes debut Wednesday.
Deadline had an exclusive update last week on Infinity Vision, as well as the upcoming re-release of Avengers: Endgame, which will be called Avengers: Endgame Encore when it comes out on September 25th. To date, Disney has received over 7500 applications from movie screens looking to be Infinity Vision-certified. Infinity Vision will officially launch with Avengers: Endgame Encore. The re-release will include a special introduction, additional new footage, and a special post-credits scene.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
Prime Video dropped the trailer for season 2 of Batman: Caped Crusader last week. Robby and I covered season 1 for FFW+, and plan to do the same for season 2. All episodes will be released on July 31st.
Speaking of Batman, Warner Bros. dropped the first trailer for the animated Batman: Knightfall Trilogy. The first part of the R-rated trilogy premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival last week. It stars Anson Mount as Batman, Michael Mando as Bane, and Pablo Schreiber as Azrael.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
Rumors have started popping up again that Marvel Studios plans to split Avengers: Secret Wars into two films, with the Russo Brothers returning to direct both of them. Longtime readers will recall this rumor percolating last year, and it just won’t go away. I am still skeptical, but maybe we’ll learn more at San Diego Comic-Con in a couple of weeks.
PANEL BOUND COMICS PICK OF THE WEEK

BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL OMNIBUS VOL. 1-3 BUNDLE
“Knightfall” is the Batman story that turned me into a comic book reader, or at least a graphic novel reader. I still remember reading if for the first time, and it is one of my favorite stories to revisit. It was a major influence on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. With the new animated trilogy right around the corner, there is no better time than now for you to check out the original comic. And our friends over at Panel Bound Comics are offering an amazing bundle deal on all three omnibuses. Use special code “FRIENDSFROMWORK” to get a discount on your order.
That’s all I have for tonight. Make sure to check out the pod, follow our socials, order your merch, and get ready for a huge July with Friends From Work.
Have a great week,
-Greg
