The Sunday Post: March to Hell's Kitchen
Hello, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post. Sadly, my prediction that a new Daredevil: Born Again trailer would be released last week turned out to be wrong. But on the bright side, the calendar has flipped to March, and Friends From Work has you covered.

Kyle and Robby will have an episode Tuesday that touches on a variety of topics, and then it is full steam ahead on Daredevil leading up to the season premiere on March 24th. Be on the lookout for a Daredevil Screen Recap on YouTube, too. And if that isn’t enough, Kyle has also been watching Jessica Jones for the first time, which could lead to a bonus FFW+ episode as well.
The news continues to trickle in at a snail’s pace, but there were enough small tidbits last week to make it worth heading over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
The Los Angeles Times interviewed Matthew Lillard about several recent high-profile roles, including his mysterious role as Mr. Charles in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
I can talk about “Daredevil” a little. I played Dungeon & Dragons with three incredible showrunners. Dario Scardapane, who runs “Daredevil,” Matt Nix, who’s doing the new “Baywatch,” and then Elwood Reid, who does “Tracker.” I’m their dungeon master. We play with Abraham Benrubi, this beautiful actor (“ER,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), a dear friend of mine. ... Dario brought me in to play Mr. Charles [on “Daredevil: Born Again”], who’s like a CIA spook. He’s a guy that controls power from afar. He helps nations rise and fall, but he’s very clandestine. He is not impressed by the powers of [Vincent] D’Onofrio’s character [Kingpin] at all. He and I get into this really delicious struggle over power. It’s good. It’s fun.
According to an interview with showrunner Dario Scardapane in SFX Magazine, the second season takes place approximately six months after season 1.
Casting is already underway for season 3, and Nexus Point News exclusively revealed that Jack Mulhern (Mare of Easttown) is joining the cast in a mystery role.
Delroy Lindo, who starred in last year’s hit Ryan Coogler movie Sinners, told The Hollywood Reporter that he told Coogler that he would “love to be in Black Panther 3.”
Last Wednesday, Variety published a feature about the new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro and the challenges facing the storied company as he ascends to the top role. Included in the story was an anecdote that executives at Disney are “pleased with what they’ve seen so far” of Avengers: Doomsday and rival executives believe it will be the biggest movie of the year.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
In a stunning twist in the ongoing drama surrounding the sale of Warner Bros. Discovery, the WBD Board of Directors determined that the latest revised proposal from Paramount Skydance was finally superior to the bid from Netflix, causing Netflix to promptly drop out of the bidding. That decision seemingly clears the way for Paramount Skydance to close the deal (after a regulatory review by the Federal Government of course) and bring WB’s large library of valuable IP to Paramount, including DC Studios. There are a lot of reasons to be pessimistic about this merger (read about them here in Yahoo Finance, excerpting The Big Pic podcast) but maybe we will finally get the live-action Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover that we deserve.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
The latest rumors surrounding Avengers: Secret Wars suggest that the movie could begin filming in August. Thanks to an interview with David Harbour conducted by Entertainment Tonight we know that Avengers: Doomsday will undergo pickups and reshoots soon, possibly this month. So that timeline makes sense. It will be a busy year for the Russo Brothers Joe and Anthony, as they wrap up post-production on one blockbuster while shooting another. Thankfully, they’ve done it before.
PANEL BOUND COMICS PICK OF THE WEEK
No pick this week, but I want to direct you one last time to the Panel Bound Comics “buy one, get one half-off sale” that Robby and I have been promoting over the last few weeks. The sale ends tomorrow, so head over to PBC and check out the nearly 1000 eligible titles before it is too late. Use code “FRIENDSFROMWORK” for an additional discount!
And that will do it for another edition of TSP. Before I go, I want to double down on my trailer prediction from last week- I think Marvel Studios is primed to release something new for Daredevil: Born Again now that the show is less than 25 days away. (If I’m wrong again, maybe I should get out of the prediction business.) Check out the new pod on Tuesday, and join the lively discussion that takes place every day over at the Friends From Work Discord.
Thanks, as always, for taking the time to read, and have a great week!
