The Sunday Post: Mickey Leaks
Hi, friends, and Happy Holidays! I am writing this week’s Sunday Post early, as by the time you read this, I will be away on my first-ever Disney cruise (or any cruise) with my family.
But what a week it has already been. The Avengers: Doomsday rumors turned out to be true (finally), and short teasers began rolling out in theaters before Avatar: Fire & Ash screenings on Thursday. Or, that was supposed to be the case before leaked clips of the trailer started popping up online Monday. And then audio leaked online for the second teaser. And then the entire Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer appeared online, grainy watermark and all.
What is going on? Is Disney’s security apparatus that bad? Is interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe still so high that it entices folks to attempt things like this? Or, is this just really smart, savvy viral marketing by Marvel Studios?
I am not ready to go so far as to say that Marvel is intentionally leaking things, but I do think they know it is going to happen and are generally okay with the buzz it generates on social media.
Kyle and Robby have now seen that first teaser, and you can find a podcast with their live reactions in your podcast feed or right here! It is their final podcast of 2025. They’ll be back in 2026 with the Friendlees, more Doomsday reactions, and so much more.
I won’t share the teaser here, just in case you haven’t seen it. But I will share this countdown clock from the Russo Brothers and their production company, AGBO.
And now, over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU
Wonder Man continued its clever marketing campaign with a new featurette. Of course, this featurette is for the “Wonder Man” movie inside the Wonder Man show, rather than for the show itself. This continues the show’s savvy trend of meta marketing.
Speaking of Wonder Man, Entertainment Weekly began rolling out its 2026 preview series on Monday, and Wonder Man was one of the first shows featured. Ben Kingsley (Trevor Slattery) spoke about bringing his character full circle twelve years after he first appeared in Iron Man 3. All eight episodes of Wonder Man begin streaming at 9 pm on January 27th.
"During Shang-Chi, Kevin Feige and [director] Destin [Daniel Cretton] suggested to me the possibility of Trevor reappearing for the fourth time in a TV series. We didn't even know the title, and I said, 'I'd be thrilled.' I love revisiting Trevor — there's so many layers to him. [This] series does see Trevor before he got the role of Mandarin, and then of course after, so it's a real biography — it's a biopic of Trevor in four episodes."

Entertainment Weekly continued its preview series with Daredevil: Born Again’s second season later in the week. The preview includes first looks at new characters played by Matthew Lillard and Lili Taylor. Marvel’s Head of Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, told EW about how the two seasons pair together and how the Punisher television special fits in.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
Trailers continue to roll out for just about every big movie on the 2026 release schedule. The first trailer (and title reveal) for Steven Spielberg’s return to blockbuster filmmaking debuted on Tuesday. Disclosure Day arrives next June.
Digger, starring Tom Cruise in his first post-Mission: Impossible role, dropped its first teaser on Thursday. How about this for an early synopsis?
The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity's savior before the disaster he's unleashed destroys everything.
On the television side, Stranger Things 5 released a trailer for volume 2. All three volume 2 episodes will start streaming on Netflix on Christmas Day.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
This week’s rumor is exciting. According to Alex Perez of My Cosmic Circus, Tramell Tillman (Severance) will be playing the new head of the Department of Damage Control (DODC) in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. DODC is already set to appear in Wonder Man (Arian Moayed reprises his role as Agent Cleary), and per Alex, Tillman’s role will continue beyond BND and into the next MCU saga.
PANEL BOUND COMICS PICK OF THE WEEK
Ultimate Universe: Invasion Box Set

Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe is about to begin winding down. Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman delivers its final issue next week. The first issue of Ultimate Endgame, Deniz Camp’s six-issue miniseries to wrap up the universe, also arrives next week.
It has been some of Marvel’s best work since I began reading Marvel comics a few years ago. These stories inspired me to start going to the comic book store every week. But I know there are still many people who have not read these stories.
So I want to recommend the Ultimate Universe: Invasion Box Set. It includes the first trade paperback for every book set in the Universe (including X-Men, Black Panther, Wolverine, and the Ultimates) and is on sale right now through our partners at Panel Bound Comics. Remember to use code “FRIENDSFROMWORK” for an additional discount!
That’s all I have. I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season, and I’ll be back here again next week with the latest news from the MCU.
