The Sunday Post: Nowhere to Run
Hello, friends! It is officially Marvel Zombies week here at Friends From Work. The four-episode event series from Marvel Animation is just 3 days away. Late tomorrow, after the world premiere, Marvel will lift the review embargo (at 10:00 p.m. PT/1:00 a.m. ET), so keep an eye on our social media accounts for our initial spoiler-free reactions.
On Wednesday, the show debuts at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET, and a full FFW written spoiler-free review will be in your inbox simultaneously. Check out the review first for my thoughts, or watch the show first and then come back and see if you agree or disagree! Kyle and Robby have already recorded their reactions and spoiler-filled thoughts as well, and the new podcast will be ready in your feeds just as soon as you’ve finished watching the series!
The flow of news picked up a little this week, so let’s head over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

Avengers: Doomsday has wrapped filming in London. Social media images of crew gifts and other wrap party items started appearing on Friday, and The Hollywood Reporter’s “Heat Vision” blog later confirmed that principal photography has wrapped. With the movie still more than 450 days from release, there will be ample time to fine-tune the film in post-production and schedule reshoots as needed.
Daredevil: Born Again has been greenlit for season 3, according to Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation. The news broke during an interview with IGN, and Winderbaum confirmed that the third season will film next year. According to Entertainment Weekly, season 2 is tentatively scheduled for March 2026.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is coming to premium VOD on Tuesday and physical media, including an Amazon-exclusive 4K steelbook, on October 14th. Entertainment Weekly had an exclusive first look at the gag reel from the special features.
Mary McDonnell (Dances With Wolves) has joined the cast of next year’s Vision series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. McDonnell’s role in the series is currently unknown. The show wrapped over the summer and also stars Paul Bettany and James Spader.
Jeremy Renner appeared over the weekend at Florida Supercon and provided an update on his future as Clint Barton in the MCU.
“I’ll always dance with Marvel. I’ll always dance with them for sure when appropriate, when it’s rocking. I’m happy to do season two of Hawkeye. I love that character. I think there’s so much for us to do. We waded through many discussions about the shape of that season. It’s getting my body right and getting everything right for that. The timing of that will come, and if there’s still a need, want, and desire for it, then yeah.”
There was a late-breaking report this evening that Tom Holland suffered a concussion in an on-set accident while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Friday. This was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. The injury is expected to keep Holland away from filming for several days.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
Fans of good television have a plethora of options available to them right now. With the MCU on hiatus, I thought I would offer my thoughts on a few shows that I think are worth checking out.
If you are an MCU fan looking to fill that comic-book show void, you should be watching James Gunn’s Peacemaker on HBO Max. It is my favorite DCU project so far.
Looking for more subversive comic-book fare? The first three episodes of The Boys spin-off series Gen V just debuted on Amazon Prime Video. Gen V doesn’t just satirize other comic-book offerings, but the increasingly bleak world outside our window, too.
If you are a fan of The Office or just looking to laugh, you might be interested in The Paper on Peacock, the latest from the mind of Office Greg Daniels. The series starts to hit its stride by the middle of the season.
Maybe you want a prestige drama? Task on HBO Max is the show for you. Starring MCU veteran Mark Ruffalo, the first two episodes are available now and will have you on the edge of your seat.
Finally, if you want a consistent, serialized spy thriller, you have to check out Slow Horses on Apple TV+ starring Gary Oldman, which returns for its fifth season on Wednesday.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
Wonder Man (December) and Marvel’s Vision series (2026) are two shows flying under the radar right now at Marvel Television. I can share a few tidbits I have heard about these shows.
Both shows are generating a lot of positive buzz behind the scenes at Marvel.
The Department of Damage Control (last seen in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) will have a presence in both series.
Wonder Man is a comedy and largely self-contained.
Vision will reference events that occurred during The Blip.
Both shows will feature a significant cameo
As always, take these rumors with a grain of salt. Things can change, and nothing is truly confirmed until it has been released.
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading! Remember to tune into Marvel Zombies on Wednesday on Disney+, and then check out all our coverage here at Friends From Work.
Have a great week.
