The Sunday Post: Peter Tingle

Hello again, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post. It’s been a long winter, but spring is finally around the corner. Likewise, the long quiet MCU winter is about to thaw. Screeners for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 are less than 24 hours from going out to critics, podcasters, and fan sites. The premiere is less than 10 days away. And finally (finally), the teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day appears imminent.

Friends From Work will be there to cover it all. Start by checking out Kyle’s Screen Recap on YouTube. Kyle puts a lot of work into these, and there is no better way to prepare yourself for season 2. This week, Robby and Kyle are answering your listener questions- thank you to everyone who called in. At the end of the week, FFW+ listeners are in for a special treat, especially all of you comics readers out there.

The news is finally picking up again, so let’s walk down to…

THE WATERCOOLER

THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

  • All indications are that the Spider-Man: Brand New Trailer will play in front of screenings of Project Hail Mary this weekend, and is likely to be released online 24-48 hours before that. Additionally, Nexus Point News has learned that the movie will have an exclusive theatrical window of at least 60 days.

  • According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, VisionQuest has found its composer and it will be Mick Giacchino, son of the legendary Michael Giacchino. Fans of DC’s The Penguin may remember Mick’s work from that project. He is expected to debut the main theme for VisionQuest with a live orchestra in May at Poland’s Kraków FMF International TV Series Gala.

  • Esquire published an outstanding feature on Thunderbolts* standout Lewis Pullman last week, and he spoke very highly of his Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

“It’s going back to the serum of the human archetypes that our art is built off of. Every character has their moment that builds the dimensions of them. The Russo brothers did that so well. They do not want anyone just sitting in the background. They really took to heart the responsibility of having some of the best actors in the world all together. There’s a lot of really exciting pair-ups that happen. A lot of fans will be really excited. It’s so fun to dream about. What if A and B would work together? Would B and D work together? You get to see a lot of those fantasies come into fruition.”

  • The marketing campaign for Daredevil: Born Again’s second season has been fairly minimalist (at least in my estimation) but last week provided maybe the best 30-second sneak peek since the initial trailer in January.

BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE

  • Aaron Pierre has joined the cast of James Gunn’s Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Pierre can first be seen as the Green Lantern John Stewart in this summer’s HBO Max series Lanterns. For more DC coverage, be sure to check out The Sons of Gunn podcast, part of the Friends From Work Podcast Network.

TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK

  • What will Marvel Studios look like after Avengers: Secret Wars? We know that there is an X-Men movie in development from director Jake Schreier that is likely to kick things off in May of 2028. It sounds like Kevin Feige and his team truly want this to be a new era for the studio, and to mark that change, Marvel plans to stop using the term “phases” to organize groups of projects. Instead, they will be rebranded as Marvel Studios Eras. I have heard that the first of these new Eras will be called “Dawn of X". What do you think of the apparent shift?

No PBC pick today, so that’s going to wrap things up for this week. Keep an eye on our Discord server this week. With the social media embargo on Daredevil lifting on Tuesday and the likely release of the Brand New Day trailer as well, it should be buzzing. Have a great week, everyone!
