The Sunday Post: So Full. So Filled.

Hi friends, and welcome back to a post-Thanksgiving edition of The Sunday Post. All of the turkey has been eaten, the football games are (mostly) over for the weekend, and everyone is preparing to turn the page to December tomorrow. I spent almost 12 hours today driving home from a wonderful holiday spent with family in Charleston, SC. I hope all of you were able to enjoy the holiday, as well.

I expect December to be a pretty big month for Marvel Studios. No, there are no new projects to be released, but the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday trailer continues to loom over the fandom. I will personally be on high alert starting tomorrow, though it is more likely to be released closer to the middle of the month. Additionally, CCXP25 (one of the world’s biggest comic conventions) is this weekend (December 4th-7th) in Brazil. Both Sony and Disney+ have confirmed they will host panels at the event. Could we see a new trailer for Wonder Man or the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day? It can’t be ruled out.

Kyle and Robby are taking the week off to regroup for a huge 2026 (and season 6 of the podcast), but should a new trailer drop, be on the lookout for a potential emergency podcast.

Until then, I reviewed the newly remastered The Beatles Anthology for Screensaver (I would love feedback on this) and Kyle released a long-awaited new episode of Friends From Football (check your podcast feed if you missed it). And stick around until the end of today’s newsletter for a very special appearance by Kyle with three other things he is excited about right now.

THE WATERCOOLER

THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

  • In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kelsey Grammer spoke highly of several of his Avengers: Doomsday castmates, saying he “geeked out” at the chance to act opposite Thor and praising Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal.

“I’m a big of Robert Downey Jr. I love him and he’s just a terrific fella. We... sort of share a scene. I don’t wanna go too into that. I don’t know what I can say or not say. I really had a great time with the new guy from Fantastic Four — Pedro, wonderful guy. I really, really enjoyed hanging out with him and we worked …together.”

  • Hugh Jackman appeared on The Graham Norton Show last week and played coy about the possibility of returning yet again to the role of Wolverine, a topic of much speculation. Jackman said, "I am never saying 'never' ever again."

  • Sadie Sink finally opened up (a little bit) about the mysterious character she will be playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Sink said Marvel Studios is even more secretive about potential spoilers than Stranger Things.

“A lot of people forget that hair color can change, but, yeah, I understand all of the theories. People will just have to wait and see. I'm excited for all of it to maybe be put to rest.”

  • Forbes released a detailed analysis of another Marvel project (this time Deadpool & Wolverine) to determine if the movie turned a profit. The short answer? Yes, it made a significant profit from its theatrical run despite a huge budget. For the long answer, click the link.

  • Avengers: Doomsday production designer Gavin Bocquet spoke to YouTubers The Young Indy Chroniclers and told them that, despite past MCU projects often defaulting to using blue screens for backgrounds, Doomsday primarily used physical sets and captured backgrounds in camera whenever possible (including the post-credits scene in Thunderbolts*).

  • Clever advertisements have started popping up around Los Angeles (at bus stops, on benches, etc.) promoting Trevor Slattery as an “acting coach to the stars”. The advertisements include a phone number (805-8-TREVOR), and I encourage you all to text or call the number. Eventually, it leads to the video above about the “Slattery Method” and multiple other fun promotions.

TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK

  • Josh Brolin recently teased that he would consider returning to his iconic MCU role as Thanos if the Russo Brothers asked him to, and now popular insider Daniel Richtman is hinting that it could be in one of the next two Avengers movies. Are you ready for more Thanos?

PANEL BOUND COMICS PICK OF THE WEEK

  • No Robby this week, but I wanted to step in and remind everybody that PBC’s Black Friday sale is happening right now. Numerous books are marked down 50% and you can use the code “FRIENDSFROMWORK” for an additional discount off that price.

My personal recommendation- there is no better time than now to grab the hardcover edition of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin”. This is a great-looking book, and one of the best TMNT stories of the last 30 years. And it can be yours for less than $15.

THREE OTHER THINGS I (KYLE) AM EXCITED ABOUT

Plur1bus - The pilot episode from this new Vince Gilligan (creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) show absolutely rips. As I write this today, I’m through five episodes, and my intrigue level has dipped ever so slightly, but is still very high. Apple TV and its original shows are really bringing me life lately (Severance, Plur1bus, Silo, Stick). I’m very intrigued to see how Plur1bus season 1 wraps up over the final four episodes.

Our new Friends From Work artwork - I spent most of last week packing up our season 6 artwork prints for FFW+ users. Every year, that task becomes a really special thing for me. Sure, the actual printing of all the addresses and the packing of the envelopes sucks, but it reminds me how many people out there are actually listening and supporting us and the podcast. And it means a lot to put specific names to the people who are doing that. But I also just got our next season artwork from Jacoby Warlick, and it just may be his best work yet. We can’t wait to reveal it soon.

Stranger Things 5 - Season 1 of this show was one of the coolest debut seasons I can ever remember. Over the years, the show has lost some of its luster/charm, but it was still undoubtedly fun to revisit Hawkins, Indiana. I just finished part 1 (the first four episodes) of the final season (out now on Netflix) and very much enjoyed it. Part 2 (the next three episodes) will be a nice little Christmas treat, followed by the finale on New Year’s Eve.

Wow, thanks, Kyle! I cannot wait to see the new artwork for season 6. That’s going to do it for me tonight. I’ll be back here again next Sunday (and maybe sooner if that Avengers: Doomsday trailer is released!)

Have a great week!

-Greg
