The Sunday Post: Unleash the Devil
Hello, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post.
Wow- what a week! Daredevil: Born Again made its triumphant return to Disney+ on Tuesday (check out Kyle and Robby’s thoughts here and my full season review here), another hit show was granted a surprise renewal, and Marvel Studios revealed its first look at the next project in the pipeline. More on that in The Watercooler in a moment.
This is a good time to get back into the rhythm of a weekly Marvel Television show (something we haven’t truly had since Agatha All Along), and this week there is not one but two new episodes of Daredevil. Kyle and Robby will be watching on Tuesday nights, just like everyone else, and recording their reactions pods the following day. Most weeks will also include a bonus FFW+ episode, and this week- Kyle listened! He joins Neil Scharnick to discuss his experience watching the first season of Jessica Jones after Neil recommended it a couple of months ago.
Now let’s head over to (the aforementioned)…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

Marvel announced the full release schedule for Daredevil: Born Again, with new episodes weekly after the two episodes this week. This is a show that warrants a full week to discuss each episode, so I’m particularly glad to see Marvel give it a chance to breathe. The finale premieres on May 5th, which leads into…

…Marvel’s newest Special Presentation, titled The Punisher: One Last Kill, which airs on May 12th. Starring Jon Bernthal and co-written by Bernthal and director Reinaldo Marcus Green, the first plot synopsis reads: “As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.”

In arguably the best news of the week, Wonder Man is returning for a second season, as announced by Marvel Studios in conjunction with Marvel Television. All the primary players from season 1 are back, including stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Simon Williams) and Sir Ben Kingsley (Trevor Slattery), and co-creators Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Andrew Guest (Hawkeye).
After shattering the record for views within 24 hours last week, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer became the first trailer in movie history to cross 1 billion views, doing so in just four days according to a report in Variety.
It appears that Spider-Man: No Way Home will be coming to Disney+ for the first time on April 15th, good news for anyone hoping to rewatch Tom Holland’s first Spider-Man trilogy before BND.
Charlie Cox talked to Entertainment Weekly about the changes fans can expect for season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, which is now filming in New York City.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
Project Hail Mary continues to dominate the box office, securing over $54 million domestic in its second weekend in theaters, according to estimates. Combined with its international sales, the movie has pushed over $300 million worldwide in just 10 days. PHM is now projected to make more than $600 million globally by the end of its theatrical run.
There will be no three-peat, however, at the box office. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie barrels into theaters on Wednesday. The sequel to 2023’s billion dollar blockbuster is expected to be a massive hit and dominate the Easter weekend at the box office.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
A few Marvel television rumors that I have heard recently:
Current plans are for Daredevil: Born Again to run for at least five seasons.
Wonder Man could continue even beyond season 2.
There are a couple more series’ that are still in development, including a second season of Hawkeye, but nothing is imminent. Marvel is currently happy with the amount of content they are producing for Disney+.
That’s all for today. Make sure to tune in Tuesday night for episodes 2 and 3 of Daredevil. And if you haven’t joined our Discord server, what are you waiting for? It is free, and a great place to talk about all things Daredevil and more. I hope to see you there.
Have a great week!
