The Sunday Post: Wonder-ful!
Hello, friends, and welcome back to The Sunday Post. If you, like me, are one of the millions and millions of people affected by the massive winter storm this weekend, I hope you are staying safe! Today’s newsletter is focused almost entirely on Wonder Man, which is now less than 48 hours away. In case you missed it, Marvel dropped the review embargo on Thursday night, and you can check out my detailed thoughts on the show here. It’s a good one, folks.
I know what you really want are Kyle & Robby’s thoughts, and there is too much to talk about to limit the discussion to a single podcast. So, on Tuesday night when all eight episodes premiere on Disney+, a new pod will drop covering the first four episodes. Then next week they’ll be back to wrap up the second half of the season and share some final thoughts on Wonder Man.
Now over to…
THE WATERCOOLER
THIS WEEK IN THE MCU

As has become customary, Marvel revealed all eight episode titles for Wonder Man last week. Having watched twice for my review, I would say my favorite episodes were 4, 7, and 8.
Marvel also released the first behind-the-scenes featurette from the show, previewing the relationship between Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery on-screen, and the undeniable chemistry between Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Wonder Man is “certified fresh” at Rotten Tomatoes, holding a 93% critic’s score with 41 reviews logged as of this writing. It marks the first Marvel Television project to cross the 90% threshold since 2022’s Ms. Marvel.
BEYOND THE MULTIVERSE
Indulge this Super Mario Bros kid-at-heart and check out the newest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which was just released this morning. It features the first look at Yoshi, and is chock-full of Mario easter eggs for longtime video game players.
The other massive trailer last week was for the fourth season of Invincible. Kyle and Robby talked briefly about the show on the “Friendlees” episode last week. The new season debuts on March 18th.
TRUE BELIEVERS RUMOR OF THE WEEK
I always recommend taking anything in this section of the newsletter with a grain of salt, but this week’s rumor may require a particularly big one. According to frequent insider Daniel Richtman, there is a chance that Marvel Studios could decide to split Avengers: Secret Wars into two movies, but the decision will be dictated by the performance of Avengers: Doomsday.
It is a tantalizing rumor, surely, but it raises a number of questions. Secret Wars is going to start filming (and finish principal photography) several months before Doomsday is released. I am not sure it is very easy to turn one movie into two movies after it has already been filmed as one movie. Also, actors are signed on to make one movie, not two- would they renegotiate with every member of the lengthy cast to release it in two parts? It all seems incredibly complicated.
Nevertheless, the idea of three more Avengers movies over the next couple of years is too juicy to not mention at all.
PANEL BOUND COMICS PICK OF THE WEEK

WONDER MAN: THE SAGA OF SIMON WILLIAMS
The hardest working lawyer in Austin, Robby, is not here this week, so I am stepping in with a blind recommendation to pick up Marvel’s collection of Simon Williams stories. This collection spans five decades and should pair perfectly with the new show. Please use code “FRIENDSFROMWORK” for an additional discount off your purchase from our friends at Panel Bound Comics.
And that’s a wrap! Don’t forget to tune into Disney+ on Tuesday at 9 pm ET for Wonder Man. Then plug into the new podcast and join the discussion on Discord.
Please stay warm and safe out there.
Until next week,
-Greg
